In 2009, the idea came to Kibidula to cultivate avocados. By 2016, there were 80 acres under cultivation. Kibidula has been harvesting and selling avocados locally for many years. The past two seasons, they sold their Haas avocado crop to an exporter. In 2018, they sold 13 tons for export. In 2019, they sold over 25 tons of Haas. They are expecting to harvest over 100 tons of Haas during the 2020 season. ASI grant funds will go towards providing an automated irrigation system for the avocado orchard.
