Reaching The Secular World For Jesus (edit, back)
Since 1995, Safe TV® has been airing programming designed to reach the secular world for Jesus. It has been the dream, the vision, and the mission God impressed on my heart from the beginning of my Christian walk, but finally flourished with the creation of Safe TV®. Since the day of our baptism over 40 years ago, my wife, Nancy, and I recognized that we stepped out of darkness into His marvelous light. Yet, we felt and still feel compelled to reach out to those we left behind on the trail of life.
One of our most inspiring gems of thought is a familiar quote from Ellen White that we found in The Ministry of Healing shortly after our baptism. It says, “Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Saviour mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, ‘Follow Me.’” Since then, “Christ’s method” has been the rule of thumb for everything we do in our lives. God the Father shows His love toward us in that “While we were yet sinners, Jesus died for us.” What an amazing love! How can we ever keep it to ourselves? What a privilege we have as Christians and as engaged and active lay members of such an inspiring organization as ASI.
Interestingly, we first became acquainted with ASI when living on the island of Kauai in the early 1970s. We were invited by Paul Damazo to provide special music for an ASI convention held there. What an inspiration Paul and this event were for us, as well as the many other dedicated leaders who have guided us all along ever since.
Safe TV® is now a global television ministry that has a potential audience of well over 900 million viewers. New technology has made it possible for us to expand quickly throughout the world. In fact, we recently opened our sister channel, SafeTV4U2, which includes two VOD (video on demand) options. This allows us to provide our viewers with the opportunity to see our very own productions, such as Purely Music, Native New Day, Native New Health and much more. One amazing result of these productions has been the support we have received from the broadcasting industry. As of this writing, we have been recognized and honored with over 55 national and international awards, including four Emmy nominations from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, a rare distinction given to a Christian organization such as ours. Also, we have been favored by political leaders, such as former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, and other governors, with over 20 years of proclamations for Safe TV® Day in our state. We are now pursuing a Congressional Safe TV® Day for America.
While we do appreciate the recognition and honors given to Safe TV® and its unique programming productions and lineup, there is nothing more important to us than to learn of souls who have been impacted by the programs we produce. A point in case is the hundreds of baptisms that our Native New Day series has brought throughout the North American Division. The North Pacific Union Native Ministries Department, under the direction of Monte Church, who is the “storyteller” of this series, has confirmed amazing results within the Native American communities. We praise the Lord for His leading in this and other endeavors that Safe TV® has had a part in producing.
I could not close this article without expressing my deepest appreciation to the many special God-appointed partners in faith who have made it possible for Safe TV® to exist and continue to grow. It is truly humbling and exhilarating to know that we all have a part to play in God’s master plan of reaching the world for Jesus.
